This band here is a darn good rock band: Honor By August.
If you get a chance, go see them live. They're based around DC, but they're currently doing some tour-ish sorts of gigs.

How did you find out about them?
Heh... I'm friends with the bass player! :) I saw them play when they came out to Los Angeles last year.
