Well Hello There!
Yep, it's been a while eh? I have been pretty busy and Internet connection at work has been spotty since we moved to the new office. I just wanted to post about the Eon Challenge, which I was able to finish. Here's the final image:

And here's a link to the final high-resolution version. (warning: 1.2MB JPG, 3636x2657 pixels)
It was a lot of work but also a lot of fun. I learned some things about painting and about using Painter, and gained some confidence in my ability to turn out a decent piece of art. I have to step back from this painting for a while before I come back and try to figure out what I could have done better, but I'm pretty happy with it and hopefully it will do well in the contest. If anything, it seems a bit prosaic to me, kind of a straightforward "photograph" of a moment without much in the way of emotional content besides "Wow, that's a big-ass pyramid!" :) A lot of the other entries are much more emotional and visually "stylish," which is something I have to work on more.
I got an email today from the publisher that runs and sponsors the site where the Eon Challenge happened, and they want me to submit the image for possible inclusion in a big book of digital art that they publish every year. That would be pretty cool if I could get in that book!
That's about it for arting stuff at the moment but I will have more to post pretty soon.

Nice work Jeff! I haven't time to really look at the big version but I like it.
